tony roma's – perth {revisited}

Half rack of Carolina Honeys ribs with ranch beans and baked potato sides.
Tony Roma’s was Mum’s choice for her birthday dinner – she wanted to try the famed onion loaf lol. It’s no culinary feat by any means, but everyone should try the holy grail of onion rings when they dine at Tony Roma’s. It’s their point of difference!
It’s certainly not everyday food – if you have it everyday it would probably kill you! However, for onion ring lovers that golden cylinder of cholesterol fueled wrath is pretty awesome. Onions cooked till tender with a light crispy coating, breaking it down to bite sized pieces is strangely satisfying.

Onion Loaf! My heart palpitates when I see this photo.
The main of beef ribs was huge. Why did I think FOUR beef ribs would be a small serving!? Sweet and tender they made a tasty departure from the porkorama of baby back ribs. The beef lacked depth in flavour – it could have done with some smokiness. Love the ranch beans and savoury rice, I could eat them forever. Okay I better stop drooling, it’s shameful. Bah, I just love barbeques and american food dammit.
Service was quick as usual and the food, well, not as good as I remember it to be. Maybe I wrote this under an alcohol fueled daze? The frozen romarita was stronger than I remember too lol. The giant margarita washes away the carnivorous grease on the palate and as it turns out, beef and alcohol mix very well!

Big, big beef ribs

Happy Birthday Mum!
