jacs café & pizzeria – ardross
Having a gander at the riverfront mansions, (that’s sightseeing in Perth for you!) (just kidding) we stopped for refreshments at the Ardross St cafe strip.
Here, we found Jacs. It’s a cafe which doubles as a restaurant and pumps out wood fired pizzas too. Its small but stylish, with alfresco seating underneath the jacarandas. Inside, a small cake fridge lingers amongst the stone facade and clear window pane looking out onto the street. I like it and if I lived locally (I wish!) it would be my regular.
Even better, the coffee is good and the service is good too. Can’t ask for much more than that. I’m hoping to come back for dinner one day.

p.s. The IGA here has been massively revamped and renamed – it’s now called the Good Grocer. Stocked with all the everyday necessities, it also doubles as a local gourmet haven. A close look reveals french roquefort (at $117 per kg, but nevermind), macaron shells and norgen vaaz ice cream. There are heaps of other goodies, making it a prime picnic hamper stocking place. If you are in the area, it is worth a look and definitely saves on a trip to the Boatshed, if a need for porcini mushrooms or dutch cocoa should come up…
