little caesar’s pizzeria – leederville
White rocks veal, potato and cream sauce on a pizza. It sounded good on paper. Look, it didn’t rock my socks but I think I get why people like Little Caesar’s. The pizzas are novel and the toppings are quite exciting, but I’m not sure if it’s executed well enough to warrant the long queues or over zealous praise.
The veal on the White Rocks was tender though entirely overwhelmed by the cream sauce and potato. Order it if you like carbonara pasta. A lot. The Max pizza – well, I guess we should have known better than to order the equivalent of a ‘supreme’ pizza but it wasn’t too far off from the Eagle Boys’ version. The base was less than extraordinary, a notch above a pizza chain’s base.
Maybe I’m just a traditionalist, I’m still loving Il Padrino’s for pizzas.
For experience’s sake we ordered their famed dessert pizzas – the mud honey. A thin chocolate cake on a pizza base, dredged with honey and melted chocolate then topped with chocolate chips. It was really cloyingly sweet. After one slice I was hesitant to reach for another. The mud honey is for the DIEHARD chocolate lover.
Afterwards we rushed to Sayers to soothe our over sweetened tastebudes with coffees.
Up’s: If you like non traditional pizzas, you will like Little Caesar’s. Very friendly service.
Down’s: Sometimes, long queues – blame the hype. Overcrowded pizzas with no distinct flavour.
