high tea : rochelle adonis (again)

A wonderful, girly excuse for a pre-Chrissy catch up with my bestie, Jess. The ever changing menu of savoury and sweet courses, topped off with charming service keeps bringing us back.

Every single morsel was done to perfection. One of the highlights were the cauliflower puree spoons served with ‘yolks’ of capsicum essence which burst in the mouth. On the sweets platter the mango galette with sorbet was featherlight, the sweet flesh of the mango heightened by the clean tasting sorbet. The creme brulee was perfect. The sugar crust torched to an almost burnt toffee crisp which snapped to reveal thick, pleasurable custard underneath.

On the downside, the day we went was warm and with the communal table crowded to the hilt (and the air con at full bore) it was quite uncomfortable. Sipping tea while sweating, is strangely inelegant. So next time, we’ll book at a cooler and less crowded time slot. Though all is forgiven because the food here is delectable and for the moment, represents the most boutique high tea to be had in Perth.

I have wanted to try out Rochelle Adonis for ages – sounds exquisite. I’ve only ever bought some nibbles for take away.
It’s a lovely space inside as well isn’t it?

foodsponge – Hello! The marble table is a pastry maker’s dream. Just beautiful. Try their signature chocolate cake, it is to die for. Love your blog by the way! :)

I have been to Rochelle Adonis for their lovely high teas, however they have since increased the price of their high tea. The reason why I feel a little critical about the price increase is that to me, I believe it is a lot to increase by in one hit. An increase from $38 for $45 is a bit jump. My friend went on her own one day during the week for high tea and they didn’t have any of the ‘larger’ sweet treats (for example, the glasses of trifle) on that day and she felt a bit short changed when she said all she got was one small finger of cucumber sandwich, a shot of something (which she said wasn’t very nice) and a couple of the smaller bite size sweet treats.

Su – That’s a real shame. I hope they won’t price themselves out of customers. Something to keep in mind next time we have high tea there. Thanks :)
