the lounge room – guildford
A whimsical cafe with a velvety lounge at the back plus a small bar license, The Lounge Room adds an appealing injection of youth to historic Guildford.
Besides being the breath of fresh air to its neighbouring antique shops, the service is perky and friendly – and they do a decent coffee.
The breakfast menu holds the usual suspects – there are fry ups (with vegetarian options), muesli trifles and croissants.
We stopped in for a quick breakfast after a shopping spree at the Midland Farmers’ Market. For a change I had scrambled eggs on toast – the toast was delightfully crunchy. Though under seasoned, the eggs were just the right consistency, to the point of being almost overcooked. Mum’s BLT croissant was generously filled with bacon with a side of the most delicious tomato relish.
Understandably, The Lounge Room is popular – there’s so much going for this place. Barista coffees and well priced breakfast and lunch menus, makes an undeniably welcome addition to the area. A good spot to check out, especially whilst antiquing or on your way to the Swan Valley.

Ah yes I’d heard about this place a while ago and completely forgot about it. I don’t have any real reason to head out that way but definitely seems worth a visit. The tomatoes in the croissant look tasty!

your website is great babe. love it! your photography as well :) my parents regularly visit the Lounge Room, u might see them there. hehe
Uh uh, I had the vegetarian breakfast and it was truly awful. What the hell are they marinating their fetta in?? I took one bite and nearly threw up. the rye toast was nice, but it was mess on a plate. Never again.
Serena – Hi Serena, it seems this place is going downhill. :( I think your opinion is shared by Conor: http://www.holdthebeef.com/2011/07/lounging-and-lunching/. Here’s to hoping we’ll find another place for brekkie in that area. Thanks for your comment. :)
