good fortune duck – northbridge
It’s the snappy service, short, chinese wooden chairs and the goldfish in the tank, that makes up the adorable, inimitable character of Good Fortune Duck. An oldie and a goodie, the eatery is always alive with an endless shuffle of customers..
Those who squeeze through the doorway are jammed in with other hopefuls, staring at the razor sharp jaws of a long gone shark. Usually only to be told it’s full house and they’ll have to wait. And happily wait we all do.
And of course, the people come because the duck is fabulously tasty.
The boneless duck noodles appeals to the lazy glutton in me and I love, love, love the hot chilli oil tin on each table. I just heap it on the noodles, enjoying the sadistic sear with the silky duck fat. Oh my.
I think for a lot of people, Good Fortune Duck is an icon in Northbridge. (It’s in the movie Two Fists One Heart… it was the only part of the movie I saw, just to spot the restaurant!).
It’s unpretentious and because of this, people from all walks of life pour into here. (Even if the duck is questionably too tasty.)
